Overview

Feasibility required

Badimo Ke Bao proposes a 20-year affordable-housing programme for underserved communities across SADC. The initiative will be developed with government, NGOs, foundations, traditional leadership structures, landowners and specialist housing partners. The stated initial programme ambition is 1 billion, subject to a confirmed currency, geographic focus and delivery model.

Core design

  • Deliver safe, dignified and resilient homes through phased developments aligned to local housing policy and municipal infrastructure capacity.

  • Create local employment in construction, maintenance, landscaping, security, administration and small-enterprise services.

  • Establish resident maintenance and livelihoods programmes so communities can sustain homes and shared infrastructure over time.

  • Use transparent beneficiary-selection criteria, safeguards against exclusion and an accessible grievance process.

*Amounts are figures communicated by the project sponsor. Currency, scope, land, technical specifications, operating costs and final capital requirements remain subject to feasibility, independent costing and funder due diligence.
