Primary outcome
Mall and services hub for mining-community catchment
Indicative budget
27 billion*
Delivery phase
Phase 3 — Scale and construction

Overview

Feasibility required

Badimo Ke Bao proposes a mall and services development in Moreke, Limpopo, intended to respond to the needs of surrounding mining communities that travel long distances for retail, services and employment opportunities. The stated early capital concept is 27 billion, subject to confirmation of currency, site, land rights, environmental approvals, market demand and infrastructure capacity.

Development rationale

  • Bring essential retail, services and community amenities closer to residents.

  • Create construction jobs, permanent retail and facilities-management employment, and local supplier opportunities.

  • Partner with government, traditional leadership and communities on land, planning, public benefit and long-term stewardship.

  • Complete an independent market, traffic, engineering, environmental and financial feasibility assessment before any funding decision.

*Amounts are figures communicated by the project sponsor. Currency, scope, land, technical specifications, operating costs and final capital requirements remain subject to feasibility, independent costing and funder due diligence.
